ABOUT
A former member of the Nyakuza who fled her home, and her brother, to save both of their skins, Enid is loud, proud, and fiercely clever. What she lacks in book smarts she makes up for in street smarts and a generally practiced intuition that she's trying her best to use for the benefit of others, for once, instead of their detriment - and to this end, she's teamed up with Charlotte in order to unravel the various mysteries of Subcon Forest (only her third place of residence).

PERSONALITY
Often sly and charming, Enid hides behind a mask of cool composure, keeping down her true feelings to maintain an aura of sly collectedness that intimidates those who would try to challenge her. However, if particularly annoyed, especially if you learn to push the right buttons, she also has a tendency to get quite hotheaded. Her charisma, and her general demeanor, were learned from her mentor - the famed Empress. She is calculated, especially so when she has the chance to adequately assess the best way to approach a given situation - however, she also does considerably well under pressure, at least in a fight, or in a war of words. In any war of deeper feelings, though, she is a clear loser.
After her escape from the Metro, and her time spent with Charlotte in Subcon Forest, Enid has gotten a lot better in terms of her general attitude, learning to better express her thoughts and emotions when pushed. She has also learned to react less with anger when annoyed, and more with reason. Her mental health has also improved exponentially, and she has come to harbor a desire to help her brother Ned escape from the toxic lifestyle of the Nyakuza as well. She still maintains many of her old mannerisms, and is still quite bad with confrontation; but is overall a generally nicer person.

TRIVIA
- Left behind her entire knife collection when fleeing from the metro. She's still kind of bummed out about this.
- Sometimes comes across as a little cold or rude in conversation, in a subconscious attempt to keep her emotions under wraps.
- Agile climber and a fast runner, as was necessary to survive and work in the Nyakuza. A smooth talker, too, but mostly when she doesn't know the other person or have any sort of connection to them. Emotions make things hard.
- She considers herself the older sister of Ned, but only by a few minutes; the two are technically twins!
SHORT BACKSTORY
FULL BACKSTORY
Born and raised in the Metro, just like her sibling, Enid has lived a difficult life. Having lost her mother at a young age, and never having known her father (a tom cat, who moved on from his relationship with her mother almost as soon as it had started), Enid was left to take care of her younger brother and raise him for most of her life. Enid was indoctrinated into the ways of the Nyakuza when she was very young, her and her brother having been taken under the Empress' wing, per say, when she inevitably discovered them via intel gathered by the various Nyakuza cats roaming the Metro.
Growing up in such a hostile environment gave her some unhealthy views on the world around her, but a part of her still wanted something more out of life, a spark of an idea based upon her late mother's tales of the wider world at large.
After years in service of the Empress, a chance meeting with a cat named Cheyenne during her young adulthood proved to be fateful. The two met at the tail end of one of Enid's heists, and the two struck up a deal before Cheyenne could flee – in exchange for her own safety when traversing the Metro, Cheyenne was never to mention this particular incident again. Cheyenne readily agreed.
This partnership eventually developed into a tenuous-at-first friendship, with the two trading first short and sweet stories then the intricate tales of their own lives back and forth. Enid began to grow softer towards the idea of a life above the Metro, somewhere she'd have the freedom to start anew and make a new name for herself. After much deliberation, Enid eventually decided to begin taking strides towards this new end goal, firstly and foremostly through becoming an informant and reporting on various... crimes that were taking place in the seedy underbelly of the Metro, under a pseudonym. Cheyenne was there to support her, as a friend, and the two knew that despite everything they would always have one another. From that point on their friendship blossomed further, until the two started dating in secret.
... Of course, her status as a secret police informant was eventually found out by the Empress. She managed to fend off multiple successive attempts on her life, before her own brother Ned was sent put an end to her, thanks to his skill in taking out targets. Rather than kill her, however, he decided to let her live; he could not bring himself to kill the only person who had supported him unconditionally since the beginning. He ended up helping her escape unnoticed, and took only a patch of her fur to ascertain to the Empress that she truly was dead. On the run, and unable to contact Cheyenne for the time being, she first fled to the Alpine Skyline, finding refuge there with the Lazy Paw Gang. There she stayed for a year or two, biding her time until she was able to safely explore the rest of the planet without fear of being caught and of subsequent retribution.
CurrentWhen she deemed enough time had passed, she departed the peaks; raring for adventure. She roamed until she found herself in Subcon – a suitably dangerous place, she thought, having heard various ghost stories about its unusual residents. She thought the Forest would be more than enough to satisfy that craving for something adventurous in her life. There she met Charlotte, who saved her from being caught in one of the Snatcher's traps, and allowed her refuge within her hollow. Charlotte also taught her the intricacies of getting around and avoiding trouble in the forest.
Developing an almost-begrudging but mutual friendship with the fire spirit, she finds herself beholden to their cause, and is keen to help the fire spirit unravel what exactly happened to her home in the time she missed. She corresponds regularly with Cheyenne via hand-written letters, though how exactly the letters make their way in and out of the forest is something she doesn't know. Charlotte takes care of that.

Other's Opinions |
Charlotte was the first other being Enid encountered upon arriving in Subcon, and the cat was surprised to find out that the fire spirit was, in fact, dead - leading to an entire conversation on Subcon's strange magic. After teaching Enid how to avoid the various traps laid around the forest by the Snatcher (observations gained based on experience with watching others fall for the same traps... repeatedly), the fire spirit offered the former Nyakuza a home in her hollow, something the cat gladly took her up on. Having slowly become friends with Charlotte, Enid is enamored by the story of Subcon and actively attempts to aid Charlotte in her quest to discover the story of and subsequently find a way to help her home... plus, earning her respect makes Enid feel good.
Enid met Cheyenne at the very conclusion of a rather crucial heist in her Nyakuza career. The two struck a deal - the latter was never to speak of this event again, not to a single soul - and in return Enid would protect her when her use of the Metro was required. Cheyenne readily agreed, though she never quite planned on telling anyone anyway, knowing full well of the sudden disappearances of multiple 'snitches'. After this event, the two ran into each other their fair share of times, before they eventually began meeting up in secret; from there their relationship bloomed, though it perhaps also became the source of the worst of Enid's troubles - through no fault of Cheyenne's, really. After Enid's disappearance the two managed to get reconnected through Hat Kid, and send one another letters to stay in touch, though Cheyenne has promised to send her a phone as a gift one of these days.
Ned is Enid's younger brother (by a few minutes), now and forever. With Ned's developmental disability Enid was the main individual offering care for him when they were both kittens following the death of their mother when they were about eight, and grew up alongside him, supporting him the whole way... even after the two were so graciously taken under the auspicious eye of the Empress and raised as members of the Nyakuza. Their mother was eventually killed after a long period of sustained harassment caused by crossing the wrong cats on the wrong day, and as is characteristic of Nyakuza tomcats, they never got to meet their father. The two were thick as thieves, even as their lives took different directions; Enid hopes her brother is doing well, though she knows she'll probably never get to see him again in person.
Enid has no super strong opinions on the "big man", as it were, though she finds herself incredibly distrusting of him and is often the first to get short - even aggressive - with him in the right (or wrong) circumstances. She's heavily critical of Charlotte's deepening involvement with him, but since she's the one who first learned of his identity and his importance to the fire spirit, there's not much she can do but keep a watchful eye on him, such that he doesn't mess with her best friend (though she'd never want you to say that out loud).
