Calypso is a flighty individual, in more ways than just the obvious. He's very aloof and avoidant of many people, preferring to be alone with his thoughts and his interests... but at the same time, he loves deeply, and wants nothing more than to be close to others. Calypso is self-sacrificing, to a definite fault: he often sacrifices his happiness for the sake of others' happiness, believing that theirs comes before his to the point that he's often tempted to put down his own concerns to avoid hurting others. He'll often refrain from speaking his mind, and usually puts his will and wants generally below the wills and wants of others.

He has a strong desire to be free, and it's led him to disappear often, preferring to vanish on a whim instead of simply asking for some space; at heart, he's a nomad and a vagrant and is hard to track down unless he wants to be found. Add onto that the fact that he's only visible by the dead, or those who have previously died, and you have a recipe for a very difficult to find individual. Calypso has a bad habit of making impulsive decisions, which often leads him into difficult situations, and causes both him and the people around him undue anxiety as a result.

Calypso often plays the fool, acting stupid and saying silly things in order to come off funny or harmless, particularly in the pursuit of being liked; and often, inadvertently or not, undermining his own intelligence.
He takes a particular interest in ornithology and lepidopterology.

Calypso likes people a lot, but he's bad at talking and prefers to show his affection through non-verbal means.

He can change his size at will, but he frequently forgets to adjust his size when universe-hopping, which can lead to some unintended, if funny, effects.
CHARON [good friend]
The two of them very much enjoy each others' company, and out of any of them they're probably the ones that get along the best; Calypso loves hearing her ideas, and she loves that he's willing to sit and listen and engage with her - and even offer feedback in a constructive way, unlike some other people.

SIDEWINDER [relative]
Calypso doesn't talk to Sidewinder much. He respects them as an individual, surely, in the way he feels he has to, but they're by no means close; Calypso finds Sidewinder far too volatile and often angry for his tastes, even considering the company he's sometimes kept in the past.
