Helloooo there and welcome... to my hockey shrine!
Yes, I am a Flames fan, if you couldn't tell. I am a 2022-2023 half-seasons' tickets holder (well, more accurately my father is, for the both of us) and attend games on the regular. I've sort of been a passive, er, voyeur of hockey in the past, if you will; I've been to a few games here and there, sometimes gifted (like when I saw the Flames vs. Kings game back in high school thanks to a family friend) and other times purchased (like last years' Flames vs. Oilers' first game in the playoffs), but this year is the year I really got into the sport, and honestly? It's been such a light in my life in a really dark period. In high school I was a lot like every other fruity little arts kid, and I had a tendency to see sports as sort of 'the enemy', the kind of thing that only attracted assholes like a lot of the people I'd personally known — but it turns out I was just looking at it the wrong way, only seeing the bad side and the bad actors. Giving it a chance has been a wild ride; the sense of community that being a part of a sports fanbase has brought me, as well as just generally being something to get out of my dark room and out into the world for aside from boring old university, has been absolutely transformative, as it's been a chance for me to start coming out of my shell and working on social skills (even in just the most menial ways, like chatting with people beside me or celebrating goals with other people); yeah, I can probably safely say I'm a bit of a sportsball fan now.
I'll write more here later, but for now, feel free to use the sidebar on the right to navigate through the game archive, where I've been cataloguing every game I've attended (or at least trying to). When I can remember, I'll be adding stuff like that Kings game I went to ages ago, just so you can contrast my earlier feelings and recollections about the sport to my love of it now.
